Jane Belinda, BACP Accred Therapist

I believe there is no greater agony than carrying a story you've never told. So often, it isn't the difficult experience itself that weighs heaviest, it's the shame that quietly builds around it in the silence afterward. My work is about creating a space where that story can finally be spoken, without judgement and without needing to have it figured out first.

I specialise in supporting people who've experienced abuse; emotional, verbal, narcissistic, sexual, in childhood or adulthood, alongside the wider impact of trauma on daily life. That impact often shows up as loneliness, a lost sense of self, low self-esteem, difficulty trusting, or struggling to feel safe in close relationships. I don't believe any of this defines you. I believe, with the right support, it's possible to live a full and enriching life on the other side of it.

Difficult experiences are part of being human, not a departure from it

I bring together extensive clinical experience with a genuine curiosity about what sits beneath the difficulties people bring to therapy. I don’t believe in using one approach for everyone, I adapt the work to your unique needs.

Experience

My experience as a therapist has developed across a wide range of settings, from the NHS and women’s services to private practice, supervision and specialist trauma work. Earlier in my career I also worked delivering speech and language therapy to children with autism, which gave me a strong understanding of neurodiversity and the different ways people experience and communicate their inner worlds.

During my time in the NHS, I created and led a counselling and wellbeing service, providing trauma-informed relational counselling, supervision and training to NHS staff during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. This service was so successful it formed the basis for a published research paper.

Over the years, my training has increasingly focused on trauma and complex trauma and the ways our early experiences can continue to shape us in adulthood. My training in couples and attachment-focused approaches also informs my work with individual therapy, particularly when relationship patterns, attachment experiences or difficulties with trust and connection are part of what brings someone to therapy.

These experiences have shaped the therapist I am today.
